I chose the Eye of Horus because I think it looks very cool, with the red around the silver iris (my idea) and the bright gold around the eye.I chose the obelisk for three reasons: (1) Because obelisks play a big role in The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan, (2) Because they can be found all over the world but originated in Egypt, (3) and the final reason is because I had some space I needed to fill. I chose silver and gold as the colors for the obelisk because it seemed that the Egyptians would have built an obelisk out of silver and gold. I didn't have very many problems but some of the few problems I did have is the corner. One of the corners is extremely thin, because there was a big dent in the pan when the plaster was poured, so when carving around that corner I had to be as careful as possible so that it would not break. I decided to go with the bronze like color for the background of my tablet because I felt most people would be using bright gold and I wanted mine to be unique. I am happy with some parts and unhappy with others. I am happy my bird hieroglyphs and obelisk turned out so well. I am unhappy because my eye of Horus did not turn out better, if I could improve one part of my tablet it would be my eye of Horus.
dylab.jpgdylan_aboriginal.pngThis is an aboriginal dot painting of the lake behind my great-grandpa's old house. I picked it because I miss seeing him. He is currently in a foster home in Greenville where he moved after living in Detroit with my aunt. Anyways, it was very nice at the lake my sister, Shawn Soule and I always used to go back there and shoot at lily pads with bee-bee guns. There were trees everywhere except on a section of hill leading down to the lake there was a small cabin at the top of the hill but we never went in it.I had some problem making my word painting the dots kept moving on their own to random places so I started over and they stopped so problem solved. I had to decide whether or not to add trees to my computer copy or not in the end I decided not to figuring it would be too complicated. I didn't really encounter any problems with the real one so that was a pleasant surprise. I thought this was a more difficult project because of all the dots and detail. Overall I think I did pretty good a few days I got kind of sloppy and lazy but I worked it out eventually. I really liked some of the online sites we could use for the digital copy like the blueman group site you could paint with jell-o, finger paints and, shoot captain crunch. If I could have one more shot at this I think I would do a whole lot better.
